Miwon is pleased to announce the launch of a new whitening active, DermaPep™ UL,
an innovative active ingredient specially designed for whitening skin care products.
DermaPep™ UL, as a melanocortin 1 receptor antagonist, strongly suppresses the
melanogenesis by de-activating the expression of pigmentation-related genes such
as tyrosinase, TRP-1, TRP-2, MITF and POMC. In vitro studies performed on human
primary melanocytes showed that DermaPep™ UL significantly decreases the
melanin production and tyrosinase activity. It was also found that DermaPep™ UL
effectively suppresses UV-stimulated production of proinflammatory cytokines.
In vivo clinical study was performed on 30 Asian volunteers, aged 18 to 52. The study
has confirmed a significant increase of luminosity (L) and ITA values following
8weeks of application.
